Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered many other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
A senior representative stated the incident made him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
