Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by the family.

This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.

Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
